I recently got to shoot the cover story for issue 17 of Spank Magazine. I did a goth/rock inspired story using harnesses from Zana Bayne and jewelry from Chris Habana. I think the end result was amazing. The issue came out in 3D and I think it really made the relationship between the graphic treatments and the photos much more interesting. I have to say my main inspiration for this shoot was the song "Devil's Plaything by Danzig". I always though he was one of the sexiest men in rock and roll. One of my favorite projects to work on in 2010 was the look book for San Francisco based store Union Made. We shot the the story a few hours north on a beach in Mendocino county. The place it's self was completely mythological while seeming almost futuristic. It was beautiful.

Last week for OUT.COM I went to an event at the NEW YORK TIMES offices. It was a mixer for every same sex couple that had been featured in the TIMES "wedding announcements" section. It was a lot of fun, and we ran a slide show on OUT.COM. It seems that GAWKER loved it so much they made it there own. Thanks guy. Check it out. I'm really happy with how it came out.

A few months ago I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing Tabatha McGurr for Sadie Magazine. Tabatha works at the girl clothing line Married to the MOB. MOB standing for Most Official Bitch! I really loved my time spent with the 18 year old Tabatha. The theme for the shoot was based on Tabatha's favorite movie Virgin Suicides. I HIGHLY recommend that everyone reads the article about Tabatha. She's a unique personality and the writer really captured that. You can check out my blog here for out takes from the shoot. I had a great time, and plan on stalking Tabatha with camera again soon.

Escandalo, for SPANK Mag Cover Story

Back in February the guys from SPANK MAG asked me if I would be interested in shooting something for there up coming HORROR ISSUE. It all came together and I got a chance to shoot the art rock band duo known as ESCANDALO. The Band consist of Desi Monster and Viva Ruiz. I was a little apprehensive about shooting the two considering their artistic resumes. However, the day of the shoot came and it seems all three of us brought the noise. They had tons of energy and were really down for whatever. I was pleasantly surprised when they later told me that one of my images was going to be on the cover. The magazine is looking more amazing every time I pick it up. I was honored when I finally got a copy and saw how many talented photographers they had shooting for it. I couldn't believe they ran mine on the cover. FUCKING BRUCE LA BRUCE shot something for the issue. In the end meeting and working with ESCANDALO has kinda changed my social life forever. I now seem to be going to all of Desi's crazy parties and Viva is everywhere I turn. Finally wanna give a shout out to my roommate Chaz Requina for not only being my photo assistant on the shoot but also turning it out on the tunes. VICE Magazine BEST ALBUM COVER Of The Month!

I'm not sure if I mentioned this in an earlier post but, VICE MAGAZINE named I.U.D.'s the Proper Sex album cover, the best of the month. Casey and I were so excited to find out. I have to say shooting this album cover, and the PR shots has just been a wealth of exposure. The girls have already had a lot of success with the album and every time I turn around the press photos are running in another magazine. Visit www.viceland.com to see more of the best and the worse. TIME OUT Feature

I have been so terrible at UPDATING lately, I'm just going to put as much up today as I possibly can. I've had a lot of projects come out in the last few weeks. One of the biggest projects is this 6 page feature I did for TIME OUT. After they saw me throw down on the craft girls shoot, Roberto at TIME OUT thought I might be good for something a little bigger. I had a really great time shooting this story. It was full of really unique people. I have to say my favorite shots were of the dancer, the game show host and the thrift store own Lisa.

So I've been a little slow on my blog updates, and don't have a scanner to scan tears. In the last couple of weeks I've been shooting a lot of different stories for TIME OUT. All the work is starting to pay off, and the issues are coming out. The first is for last weeks Time Out. I photographed 3 young ladies who are crafters inspired by Martha Stewart. The shoots all went really well, and I love some of the portraitures I got out of it. Those of you that know me, know I'm always looking to shoot ladies.

I meant with designer Casey Maher and one half of I.U.D. Sadie Laska on the street last week for the hand off. The "I.U.D.- the prop Sex" album has finally arrived. We saw the project all the way though, and now we have the physical records. It's all so exciting and I'm super happy with the way it came out. I've been told that VICE MAGAZINE named it the BEST ALBUM COVER of the month. I have yet to see an issue of the magazine but except an up date if they did.

With my position at OUT magazine I'v been given the chance to shoot a regular story. It's called Homo Plus. The story is about a mens designer and where they like to go in a certain city. Every third we do, we like to make it a city other then New York. Those I don't shoot. When it is New York we ask them to make there answers about a specific neighborhood. I go and make a portraiture of them, and then photograph the shops, bars and restaurants they suggest. This is the first of a couple that I've shoot for OUT.

First is Philip Crangi. he's a famed jewelry designer that can be regularly seen around the east village. Check out the March issue of OUT Magazine, on new stands now.

This weekend I got together with a former SVA grad of mine Rachael Woodson ( www.rachaelwoodson.com ) and clothing designer and new found frendo Ashley Cheeks. Ashley has a young clothing line called "It's Ok My Dear" ( www.itsokmydear.com ). She's sharing a studio with my friend Patrick ( www.toolshed.us )where I shot Min Park a few weeks back. Ashley and I came together, and invited Rachael to the studio to model some looks. I really love the photos. I think the came out amazingly. Ashley and I have decided to move forward and keep inviting different girls in to model her newly made clothes. Check out the photos, and keep your eyes out for more girlie photos from me to come.

Telepathe for OUT Magazine

The February issue of OUT magazine has hit stands everywhere this week. As well as being mentioned on the masthead I also have a couple photos in the issue. The one I'm most excited about is the photo of fame girl band TELEPATHE. They were super fun and like every brooklyn 20 somethings we knew a lot of the same people. It turns out that Busy herself works at the same restaurant as my roommate Mike. Brooklyn's a small world after all. I'm going to be up dating my site this weekend with all new work. Check it!

A few months ago I was asked by the band IUD (Lizzie Bougatsos from Gang Gang Dance and Sadie Laska from Growing and Extreme Violence) to shoot there album cover. They had the amazing concept of spoofing an album cover from the cult classic band SPARKS. The photos came out great, and the album is set to release this March. Here are some recent press reviews that it's gotten from a shit load of music sites. I do have to say my favorite thing about this project is the album is being released on vinyl with a coupon to get the music digitally. I can't wait to see my shit on a record. This is my first post in the new year and I've got a lot of stuff coming up. I have a bunch projects hitting the stands in the next couple of weeks. Most recently is the first issue of OUT magazine that I've worked on since assuming my position there as the PHOTO ASSOCIATE. I shot a band (along with a few other still life items) for the FEB. issue, due out this week. I also had an assignment for LATINA MAGAZINE over the weekend, that should be coming out in March. I will be sure to keep the blog updated with images and tear sheets. However, the things that I can show you that I'm super into was a photo shoot I set up today with my friend MIN PARK. She is a former SVA student like myself. She was fine arts, a painter but always super cute and fashionable. In my ever growing quest to photograph girl I asked her if she would be around this sunday afternoon. We went over to my friend Patrick's studio and made these photos which I'm really feeling. I don't know which I'm going to go with, but I have to say the success of this photo shoot has changed my whole persective on natural light. I've been toying around with it for the last few months since being sent on a shoot with DAVID ARMSTRONG. I think these are the most sucessful and you can expect a lot more of this in the near future. Enjoy.

As I mentioned before my photos for SADIE MAGAZINE of the band SCHOOL OF SEVEN BELLS have finally come out. I'm really happy with the story, and I think it looks great on the site. I was also happy with this coming out, the same time as my TIME OUT story. I think they both look so different but, still feel the same. Adam Baran at Butt magazine had made a request to me last week to submit photo for the BUTT blog. I sent him these photos that I had sent to Jop at magazine back in August. I made these images of myself back in August when I was assisting a photographer in Texas. The room that he had put me up in was at a bed and breakfast. It was meant to be a romantic get away in the country for the big city folk from Austin. They had never intended a 25 year old brooklyn hipster to call it home for 3 weeks. As one of the many features to the room, they had a large novelty jazzuci hot tube, and no shower. So every night when I came home for the long, hot day of assisting I would take a long bath. I made these butt inspired photos as some sort of photographic love letter for my then boyfriend Casey. Today, adam has posted them to the Butt Blog (www.buttmagazine.com) as "Monday Morning BUTT". Check it out, and expect more to come from BUTT MAG and ME.

School of Seven Bells

Back in the early Fall while I was still freelancing around town, I was asked by Sadie Magazine's editor Jesse Sposato to photograph the band School of Seven Bells. For those of you that don't know, Sadie is a new on line magazine (www.sadiemagazine.com), for girls, guys and ladies. They had at the time run out takes from the photos I made of Mirror, Mirror. I was really excited about shooting SSB, as they were an up coming band I discovered though Adult Swims free mix downloads "ghostly swim". The band is really awesome, and I knew I wanted to do something bigger. I talked to my friend Ethan Whitney who's an amazingly talented prop stylist currently doing window display full time for Barneys. We came up with this great idea for a tree. We are calling it white Gothic. The images are set to run on Sadie's website soon but, here is a sneak preview for all to see. Also check out my website for images of the twin sisters, themselves.

It seems I finally got the bottom of the Mr. Black flyer. A friend of HOOD BY AIR the clothing line that supplied the clothing for the photos of Francois had given them the image to use for the flyer. The promoter was super nice, and credited me on the flyer as the photographer.

I then check out the HOOD BY AIR website and found that they whole story with Francois is up there. Check it out. It's in "THE PROJECTS"(www.hoodbyair.com/projects/2008/caricature/) section of the site. You will also notice that most of there images are done by the very talented Kevin Amato. He is a photographer on the rise. Working for me here at OUT magazine as well for many others.

I know it's been awhile since I've tuned in. A lot has happened. I have a new job at OUT magazine as there associate photo editor, and I'm recently single. Along the way I've done a few many things pertaining to photography. The first up on my list, is a little bit of a reach but still is completely note worthy.

Before Casey and I's mutual break up we participated as member of the studio audience of the cable acess television show "TITLE THIS". For those of you that don't know it's a game Show where art critics and celebrities compete to title Mark Kostabi's painting for cash award. The Tressels; Nov. 7th in Philly

For those of you that know me well remember my days in The Tressels. Once in a time not to long ago I went by the name MUDFLAPS TRESSEL. I was apart of a cultish family of 6 music making freaks. They were the drunkest two years of my life, and I was luck to get out alive. Needless to say the guys are still on the same rock and roll war path. In thier latest effort to drum-up some new fans (which they refer to as "Tressel-maniacs") they have created this you tube short to promote thier up coming show. Some sort of viral bible. Tonight I went to David La Chapelle opening for his new show. It was a regular who's who. Just then famed British IT GIRL walks in Daphne Guinness. The air to the Guinness fortune. She is British Fashion. Of course I ran as close to her as I could and had Casey snap a picture. Pretty convincing, right? In the end, she showed up to the after party, and just as the music took her way I stepped in as her anonymous dance partner. I love you Daphne.

SPANK MAG PHOTO PARTY

About a week ago Sean Bumgarner the editor of Spank Mag (spankartmag.com) asked me to shoot there up coming photo party. For those of you that aren't fimilar with SPANK MAG it's an art zine for homos. I showed up to the party and found out it was being held at famed photographer Aaron Cobbett (www.pinkandwrinkly.com) studio. I had a great backdrop and lots to photograph. At the end of the night, I started getting a little to friendly with my camera towards some of the guests and it was time to go. I learn a valuable lesson though. That even when two guys are really going to town on each other in front of 100s of strangers, you still have to ask first before taking there picture.

Look out for the newest issue of spank mag for all my party pictures. It's due to hit stands sometime in October.

While on my kick of making new work I ran into my friend Claudia (claudiaveizaga.com) on the train. She's a photo kid herself and respected my need for photo speed. Claudia agreed to a shoot and we got right down to business. I've recently been assisting photographer Greg Thompson (gregthompsonphoto.com). His mastered use of gels was the inspiration for the lighting. Claudia came over, with a ton of cloths and we started taking pictures. We had a few set backs involving 200 feet of orange extension cord but after the dust settled I had some great photos. Nate is up first. I made this photo of him earlier this summer at Casey's house on Fire Island. He's come out to visit a few times, and on this weekend I really made him pay the piper. Stop Pulling my Goat

I took these pictures at a Rodeo a few weeks ago. They have an event there call the goat round up. They let all the kids who are under 11 to come into the center and they let young goats, billy's and nanny goats come into the ring. The kids have to do their best to take them to a small square at the end other end. For those of you who don't know, a baby goat is called a KID. The reason is the way they sound. When they scream they sound like little kids. You can imagine 30 goats being attached by 100 9 year olds would lead to some screaming on both ends. The boy I sh0ot was an older brother. The look on the goats face, pretty much says it all. enjoy.

I am reaching my final days here in Texas. I had a great time. Got away from New York for awhile, at least long enough to miss it a lot. I got to see another part of the country, and know I never want to live in small Texan town. Here are a few images that I had just lying around that i really liked from my last week or so here. We went to the pool one day. Ironically on the day it closed. The guy standing in a field. That's a bee hive in front of him. He keeps bees. The rest are pretty straight forward. enjoy.

New Young Pony Club

This weekend we went to the 52nd annual junior Rodeo. I think Eric got some great photos but, in our down time there I got the chance to snap a few of my own. The most amazing thing about this place were the kids themselves. We went to a adult rodeo a few weekends ago and I have to say these kids were just as good if not better. Some of them were so small, and riding and running these full grown horse around. It was amazing and freakish to watch. Here were a few of my favorites.

Hey everyone. I've made it to though week 2 here in Texas. It's starting to get really tough with My boyfriend and Big City life waiting for me at home but I think I can make it to Friday. I've made a lot of pictures in the last few days, and plan on posting things up in the next couple of days. These two photos are some of my favorite from the new bunch. We went down to another rodeo and I took these images similar to the last rodeo. They are totally Texas.

I'm here in Texas still Assisting Eric. Things have been going well with the project. Of course we've gotten into more of a rhythm with everything which is really nice. I've also been shooting a lot of random photos. Since graduating I've made much more structured, planed work. I'm kind of re visiting those first few years of college where I was just taking pictures of everything that seems fun or funny. Strange. I've made a lot of postcard type pictures but their are definitely a few I love. With this bunch I have to say the Horse on the roof might trump all, however I do really love the simplicity of the phone with the number over top. This was in a public building, and it just represents so much of the way this small town runs. The lanterns are also really great, they way the kind of look like hanging birthday cakes.

Midget Championship Finals

This is me assisting Eric while shooting the Midget (they say Midget instead of Pee Wee) Little League Championships. It was held at the famed Gordon Wood Stadium. Ironically enough both the teams playing in the championship were from the same town. Talk about small town blues.

Im still in Texas. There seems to be a lot more production work here, then was explained to me so I haven't had much down time. It is however a great experience having the opportunity to not only assist a photographer on making a book but, also producing it all along the way. As I mentioned not much down time but, for my first afternoon off I thought I would poke around the inn I'm staying at. Its about 10 miles outside of town and it is called THE STAR of TEXAS (www.star-of-texas.com). It is run by Don and Debbie. Brownwood natives themselves. They are kind of the first original hippies I've encountered. They are a little different then most Texas natives, but then again so am I. As a feature to their place, they have a nature trail that goes all the way around the property. Don is a art metal sculpture and "works" of his are featured all along the way. I also had a chancing meeting with the family llama. I know it's a boy but for some reason I really want to call it "Bernese".

Check out my photos. Their are plenty more to come from this place. They've lived here 20 something years, and if someone was smart enough they should start to make a photo book about them.

Texas Toast at the Rodeo

As most of you know I have embarked on a 3 week trip to Texas. The photographer Eric McNatt has asked me to assist him, while making a book about Brownwood, Texas (his home town). Here is the first of many posts, with a small gallery about my time being spent here in Texas. This first taste is all a big night out at the rodeo. It's what they do for fun around here, and I had a great time. As far as Texas in general and the rodeo go, it's just so different. The people, the landscape, the culture. Not to mention it's hot as hell!

Mirror, Mirror

Last week I was asked by my friend Marisa Handren at FOUR PAWS MEDIA (www.fourpawsmedia.com) to photograph a band of hers. They are called "Mirror, Mirror". They are a polymorphic group showing up with anywhere from 3 to 6 people, on any given night. They struck me as fashion forward music experimentalist. I had suggested the West side highway at Day Break, and their formative lead singer David was all about it. What was originally inspired by "the Best of Blondie" Album cover, came out something completely different. I was really happy with the photos. For those of you that know, I'm on a constant quest to find women, and with this shoot I felt like I hit jack pot. Here is my favorite outtake from the shoot. The MISSBEHAVE issue that I shot SLUT MACHINE for is now on News stands. It was really great to get the issue and not only see my photo in it, but to be amongst other great photographers. Angela Boatwright shot an amazing metal fashion story. I used to be Angela's office assistant when she had her company Killer of Giants. Jimmy Foutain and I worked for Angela together and he shot more then a couple of different stories for the issue. Including a bowling rally with famed girl rock band THE DONNAS. Matt Salacuse was up in there, and Beatrice Neuman who I have yet to meet but we just included in our most recent issue of RADAR. And of course, who could forget the talented and beautiful Brooke Nipar. She's got the best working for her. I'm thrilled to be apart of the issue and the magazine.

HX Magazine Cover

Hello Readers. I know I haven't updated my blog in awhile but I figured I would start off with something big. About a month ago HX magazine CEO Mathew Bank asked me to shoot a cover package for them. I had done something for them earlier in the year and he felt this would be the "dare to be great" situation he was saving me for. Of course, I got my boyfriend Casey Maher in on the deal. He art directed, photo assisted and played "crowd control" for the evening. The story was about the return of famed gay bar MR BLACK. The bar was shut down about a year ago and the whole staff had come back to work at it's new location. We shot there on a Friday night before it opened. The claim to fame for me, and I'm sure Casey was assembling a group shot of 15 people. We knew the it was going to be the opening spread and was asking by Editor and Cheif Brandon Voss to mind the gutter. It was a heavy task but, in the end we got the shoot.
I want to give a shout out to Casey. For being such a good sport, and always lending a hand. I also want to clear up any rumors to the graphic design community that he has taken on an "art director" position at HX. He just did it that one night, for me, as a favor. Sorry HX, he's all mine!
The issue came out week before last, but I scanned it all for your viewing pleasure. enjoy.

To the Happy Couple.

This weekend, my boyfriend and I attended a wedding in North Caroline. It was the union of two people who are slowly becoming close friends. Stacey Pittman (who I work with at Radar, and a fellow photographer) and Matthew Salacuse (a photographer who I want to be when I grow up). A wedding of two photographers, was very enlightening to a young wannabe like myself. The place was wall to wall of working professionals and Canon 5Ds. I got to mingle with the likes of Emily Shur (www.emilyshur.com), Eric McNatt (www.ericmcnatt.com) and SVA super star Kareem Black (www.kareemblack.com). Also in attendance was Media Savvy power Couple Monique Perreault (Photo editor of SLAM magazine) and her boyfriend Chris Ehrmann (Photo Editor of BLENDER magazine). We danced, we laughed we toasted the couple. They had a big southern BBQ and a "SOULTRAIN" line. It was a lot of fun, and I got to meet my heroes and heroins.

Sandy Kane, The Breast Comedienne in New York

It's been a slow couple of week for me with taking pictures. I recently returned to my desk job as the photo researcher at Radar Magazine. Being the 3rd in the crazy photo team of Greg and Stacey leaves me photographically beat up and broken down at the end of the day.
However, their is never a dull moment. This afternoon, in celebration of the beautiful day we walked over to time Square to see one our favorite New York City night life Personality Miss Sandy Kane. She was recently featured on radar on line written by Greg Garry and Photographed by Stacey Pittman. She is currently residing in Time Square as the Naked Cowgirl.
A few words on Sandy and I mean this in the nice possible way. She is the last of the new york Freaks. She tells the most fantastic stories of old New York.

David's Lost CONTROL

For those of you who know my new roommate David, you would have to agree that he has a strong resemblance to the late Joy Division front man Ian Curtis. Yesterday David and I got together for a fun photo shoot. The result was these photos-which I have to admit I'm more then most of the work I've made in these last few weeks.

If you haven't seen the movie CONTROL I highly recommend it. I'm a big Joy Division fan, and only have knowledge of the shows though stories I've heard. The movie really feels in the gaps were my experience can't.

As for David, keep you're eye out for him and Charles. They are coming to a DJ booth near you.

RADAR 100

As most of you know, I work as the Photo Researcher for RADAR magazine. From time to time the photo editor Greg Garry gives me little photo assignment to keep my fingers fresh. In the April issue I shot the RADAR 100. "100 signs you're in a bad relationship". My best friend Kate Moorhead (that is her real name) was in town and I commissioned her modeling skills. I've been photographing Miss Moorhead since the 10 grade and thought it would be a lot of fun. The gentleman in the photo is my old roommate from college Billy "Staples" Peirce.

Not only is the image featured on the last page of Radar's most current issue but also on the homepage to the website.

Then on Saturday afternoon after a long time coming I finally caught up with my favorite porn star Francois Sagat. I pinned him down for a photo shoot while he was in town for the BLACK PARTY. I got the amazing Ken Baldwin to style it, and it really came out great. We did this all on our own merit but, hopefully it will be seen in some magazine soon.

In the end, I was just glad to have the chance to do it, and i think the photos look amazing.

So everyone I had a pretty full Photo Weekend.

First on Friday I was asked by Brooke Nipar at MISSBEHAVE magazine to photograph a personality for their up coming issue.

So I got together with Jezabel.com's SLUT MACHINE, and a whole lot of kinky candy from Eco. Candy on Rivington and let the magic unfold.

As a result both of us got drunk and sick to our stomachs from eating to much sugar. It was a great time, and I suggest everyone looks out for the up coming issue of MISSBEHAVE for our photo shoot.

The table have turned since my days in Pin Ups Magazine. I finally got my hot hairy chested boyfriend drunk enough to me photographic him in his birthday suit. I thought what better prop then balloons. I then managed to convince him to let me submit them to BUTT magazine. Not to our surprise they were well received and one of our images was posted to the home page today. Keep your fingers crossed for us to make it to the print magazine. We are both still thrilled to have them on the website. Check it out, and give a look in up coming issues for more images of our "SURPRISE PARTY photo shoot.

HX Magazine

I finally decided to start a photo blog. I realized that it's a great way to show people we are you are up too. As well as outtakes from my published and unpublished shoots.

So for my first order of business my recent published works in HX magazine. When I first agreed to do this photo shoot with Darren K I didn't realize that everything in it was going to made out of leather. Thanks to awesome and open minded miss informed friends ( not to mention a more then a couple bottles of Tequlia at 12 30 in the morning) the shoot when off with out a hitch.

You can also pick up the real deal at mostly any gay bar in the city. As well as street corner in Chelsea. If you're really desperate I'm sure Josh Sparber has a few extra copies laying around. He always does.
