"One more time, for the cheap seats in the back."

Hey everyone. I've made it to though week 2 here in Texas. It's starting to get really tough with My boyfriend and Big City life waiting for me at home but I think I can make it to Friday. I've made a lot of pictures in the last few days, and plan on posting things up in the next couple of days. These two photos are some of my favorite from the new bunch. We went down to another rodeo and I took these images similar to the last rodeo. They are totally Texas.

Brownwood, TX

I'm here in Texas still Assisting Eric. Things have been going well with the project. Of course we've gotten into more of a rhythm with everything which is really nice. I've also been shooting a lot of random photos. Since graduating I've made much more structured, planed work. I'm kind of re visiting those first few years of college where I was just taking pictures of everything that seems fun or funny. Strange. I've made a lot of postcard type pictures but their are definitely a few I love. With this bunch I have to say the Horse on the roof might trump all, however I do really love the simplicity of the phone with the number over top. This was in a public building, and it just represents so much of the way this small town runs. The lanterns are also really great, they way the kind of look like hanging birthday cakes.

Midget Championship Finals

This is me assisting Eric while shooting the Midget (they say Midget instead of Pee Wee) Little League Championships. It was held at the famed Gordon Wood Stadium. Ironically enough both the teams playing in the championship were from the same town. Talk about small town blues.

The Star of Texas

Im still in Texas. There seems to be a lot more production work here, then was explained to me so I haven't had much down time. It is however a great experience having the opportunity to not only assist a photographer on making a book but, also producing it all along the way. As I mentioned not much down time but, for my first afternoon off I thought I would poke around the inn I'm staying at. Its about 10 miles outside of town and it is called THE STAR of TEXAS (www.star-of-texas.com). It is run by Don and Debbie. Brownwood natives themselves. They are kind of the first original hippies I've encountered. They are a little different then most Texas natives, but then again so am I. As a feature to their place, they have a nature trail that goes all the way around the property. Don is a art metal sculpture and "works" of his are featured all along the way. I also had a chancing meeting with the family llama. I know it's a boy but for some reason I really want to call it "Bernese". 

Check out my photos. Their are plenty more to come from this place. They've lived here 20 something years, and if someone was smart enough they should start to make a photo book about them. 

Texas Toast at the Rodeo

As most of you know I have embarked on a 3 week trip to Texas. The photographer Eric McNatt has asked me to assist him, while making a book about Brownwood, Texas (his home town). Here is the first of many posts, with a small gallery about my time being spent here in Texas. This first taste is all a big night out at the rodeo. It's what they do for fun around here, and I had a great time. As far as Texas in general and the rodeo go, it's just so different. The people, the landscape, the culture. Not to mention it's hot as hell!

Mirror, Mirror

Last week I was asked by my friend Marisa Handren at FOUR PAWS MEDIA (www.fourpawsmedia.com) to photograph a band of hers. They are called "Mirror, Mirror". They are a polymorphic group showing up with anywhere from 3 to 6 people, on any given night. They struck me as fashion forward music experimentalist. I had suggested the West side highway at Day Break, and their formative lead singer David was all about it. What was originally inspired by "the Best of Blondie" Album cover, came out something completely different. I was really happy with the photos. For those of you that know, I'm on a constant quest to find women, and with this shoot I felt like I hit jack pot. Here is my favorite outtake from the shoot.
